Cape Sounio

A thoroughly enjoyable coastal trip 70km from central Athens will take us to Cape Sounio. This is an especially interesting excursion option included on our day trips itinerary. Travelling parallel to the Athens Riviera we’ll become acquainted with modern-day Athens and its wonderful southern suburbs, visiting Lake Vouliagmeni, a geological phenomenon situated in an incredibly beautiful location, we’ll travel through the coastal towns leading to Cape Sounio.
We’ll discover the mythological and historical identity of the Cape by visiting the temple of Poseidon, built in 5 BC by the ancient Athenians, and of course we’ll admire the infinite blue of the Aegean sea. This is a 5-6 hour tour and usually takes place in the afternoon; because the Cape’s unique location lends itself to a magical sunset that provides a truly emotional experience.
